Job summary

Orenda in Brooklyn, NY seeks a senior Origination Engineer who will own design templates, product narratives, and technical directives for the Origination Engineering team. You will drive cost- and footprint-optimized designs and lead critical interconnection decisions for a growing 100+ project portfolio.

The role requires a PE license, 8+ years in power systems or DER interconnection, and a track record creating design standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in power systems, distribution planning, or DER interconnection engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience creating design standards, templates, or engineering processes.
• Strong track record negotiating technical scope with utilities.

Responsibilities

• Own design templates, product narratives, and technical directives in OE process documents.
• Optimize standard designs for cost and footprint.
• Review and stamp drawing packages.
• Derive interconnection paths for new investment strategies with validation plans.
• Qualify new technologies and OEMs for compatibility with our process.
• Lead negotiations with utility engineering on substation upgrades and costs.
• Mentor the Staff Engineer and Designer through technical review.
