Job summary

MKS Spectra-Physics, the Lasers Business Unit of MKS Instruments, invites a Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join our product development team. You will contribute to the design and continuous improvement of laser systems from concept through production, working with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include leading design, testing, and qualification, translating requirements into robust opto-mechanical assemblies, and supporting manufacturing with root-cause analysis and tooling

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Optical/Mechanical Engineering or related field; 5+ years industry experience.
• Strong opto-mechanical design and analysis experience.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
• Hands-on testing, assembly, alignment, integration of laser/optical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, integration, testing, and qualification of laser products and subsystems.
• Translate product requirements into robust opto-mechanical designs considering cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Define tooling and test strategies, build prototypes, measure optical and opto-electronic parameters, generate design documents for ECOs.
• Lead root-cause investigations and provide engineering support to manufacturing and operations.
