Quantinuum in Broomfield, CO is seeking a Senior Advanced/Lead Optical Systems Engineer to join our hybrid team. You will create and manage requirements for optical subsystems of a future quantum computer, guiding architecture, interfaces, and verification across internal teams and external partners.

The role requires 6+ years in optical/photonics systems engineering, leadership capabilities, and a strong track record in design, integration, and testing. U.S.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years of professional experience in a combination of systems engineering roles and design, integration, or testing roles focusing on optical/laser/photonics technologies.
• Minimum 2 years of this experience must be in a systems engineering role.
• U.S. Government national security requirements restrict non-U.S. nationals unless the candidate is a U.S. citizen.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or refugee/asylum status.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage requirements, interface definitions, and architecture documentation for optical subsystems of a future trapped-ion quantum computer, with internal and external collaborators.
• Derive and manage traceability of subsystem artifacts to system-level requirements and architecture documentation.
• Trade design options in collaboration with subsystem teams and external partners.
• Plan and participate in subsystem integration and verification, including testing.
• Organize and conduct subsystem design reviews and contribute to system-level design reviews.
• Help develop and implement company systems engineering standards and practices.
