Job summary

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. seeks a Lead Operator for its Monroe, LA site to serve as the on-site process authority for groundwater production and RO treatment.

You’ll direct daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, manage a resident team, and coordinate with Meta and contractors to maintain 99.9% uptime and one-hour emergency readiness. The role requires 5+ years in water treatment, 2+ years in supervision, RO knowledge, SCADA proficiency, and safety leadership.

Qualifications

• Five years of water treatment operating experience, including RO or membrane systems.
• Two years of supervisory or lead responsibility.
• Working knowledge of RO normalization, recovery, and CIP chemistry; filtration; chemical dosing; and wellfield operation.
• Ability to read regulatory requirements, permits, O&M manuals, drawings, and procedures; train staff.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily process operation across wellfield, RO trains, disinfection, storage, and pumping to deliver up to 24,000 gallons per minute.
• Makes and documents process control decisions on well sequencing, RO recovery, chemical dosing, and disinfection residual; determines corrective actions.
• Owns Standby-Readiness Program and weather-watch protocol for peak demand preparedness.
• Leads Unit Process Control Procedures, SOPs, Sampling and Analysis Plan; reviews shift logs and ensures documentation is complete.
• Maintains regulatory and permit compliance, monitors reporting and recordkeeping; coordinates with regulators as needed.
• Assigns daily activities of resident operating team; leads shift turnover and communicates conditions to Project Manager and Meta contacts.
• Directs responses to process upsets and emergencies; coordinates isolation, notification, and recovery with maintenance, EHS, and site personnel.
• Reviews SCADA alarms and trends; drives alarm rationalization and efficiency improvements.
• Coordinates planned work with Meta and contractors during operations; supports safe handoffs.
• Leads 24/7 on-call standby rotation with monthly testing for 1-hour emergency response.
