Job summary

Duraco Specialty Tapes is seeking a Lead Operator to efficiently and safely produce products to specification. The role includes training operators on how to set up and operate coating machines and to support daily production with a focus on quality and productivity.

The ideal candidate has strong communication and problem-solving skills, at least a GED or high school diploma, and 2+ years of experience operating coating equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience operating coating machines.
  • Ability to read simple instructions and write simple correspondence.
  • Strong math and measurement skills (units, decimals, fractions).
  • Proactive in improving quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and tend machines applying wet coatings to various substrates as specified.
  • Train team members on procedures and machine operation.
  • Follow escalation procedures and notify support staff when issues occur.
  • Promote a safe work environment and demonstrate safe behaviors.
  • Identify, report, and resolve safety hazards and train operators on safe methods.
  • Assist supervisor with daily tasks, metrics, and communications.
  • Verify dimensions on production orders and document results.
  • Monitor equipment and perform quality/product testing per procedure.
  • Perform machine adjustments and routine maintenance.
  • Prepare coating solutions and load/unload materials on the machines.
  • Enter data into systems and maintain daily logs.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas and adhere to safety/quality procedures.
  • Meet productivity standards and strive to increase output.

Job description

The Lead Operator efficiently and safely produces the requested product to specification with the goal of providing an optimal product to the customer as required. The individual will also be responsible for training operators how to set up and operate assigned machines.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and tend machines that apply wet coatings to plastic films, papers, foils and other miscellaneous materials according to specifications and instructions.
  • Train team members on company procedures and standards and how to set up and operate assigned equipment.
  • Follow escalation procedures and notify appropriate support staff when production issues occur.
  • Promote a safe work environment and safety focused culture by demonstrating safe behaviors and using equipment and materials properly.
  • Identify, report, and solve safety hazard and trains operators on safe work methods.
  • Support supervisor with daily tasks including metrics tracking, Tier meetings, production and leadership communication.
  • Responsible for verifying dimensions of specifications and all information on production orders.
  • Monitor equipment and perform quality/product testing per procedure and compile results.
  • Perform machine adjustments and routine maintenance.
  • Prepare coating solutions per instructions.
  • Load and unload materials on and off coating machine.
  • Enter data into a computer and maintain daily log sheets.
  • Report to work consistently and on time.
  • Keep work area, machines, tools, and equipment clean and in orderly condition.
  • Meet productivity standards and strive to increase productivity.
  • Follow all safety and quality procedures as set forth by the company, including SQF
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Required Skills, Education, and Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of 2+ years related experience running coating machines.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Accurate and has strong attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.
  • Accountable and takes responsibility for own actions; applies feedback to improve performance.
  • Proactive and seek opportunities to improve quality and productivity.
