Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions (CGS) in Arlington, VA is seeking a Lead Engineer to oversee the operation and performance of Central Plant equipment. You will serve as acting Chief Engineer when needed, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation of complex mechanical and electrical systems.

This on-site role requires a Class 3 License, a Secret Clearance, and at least five years of engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Engineer – 3rd Class required for senior level Stationary Engineer.
• Extensive knowledge of boiler operations, HVAC systems, and electrical equipment.
• Experience supervising junior engineering personnel.
• Secret Clearance required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Engineering Services.

Position Location

This position is located on-site in Arlington, VA.

Job Overview

The Lead Engineer reports directly to the Chief Engineer and serves as acting Chief Engineer when required. This role is responsible for the operation, oversight, and technical performance of all Central Plant equipment within the facility. The Lead Engineer functions as a senior‑level Stationary Engineer, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation of complex mechanical and electrical systems.

Pay Rate: $50.98/ hour

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain all Central Plant equipment and related mechanical systems.
• Serve as the primary technical lead and act in the Chief Engineer’s role during absences or when delegated.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs on boilers, HVAC systems, electrical equipment, and other critical infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and facility operating procedures.
• Provide oversight, guidance, and technical direction to junior engineers and maintenance personnel.
• Maintain equipment logs, inspection records, and operational documentation.
• Coordinate with the Chief Engineer on plant performance, system reliability, and maintenance planning.

Job Requirements

• Must be a licensed Engineer – 3rd Class, qualifying as the most senior level of Stationary Engineer within a facility.
• Extensive knowledge of boiler operations, HVAC systems, electrical equipment, and complex mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of building and plant equipment.
• Experience supervising or directing junior engineering personnel.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations, compliance standards, and operational best practices.
• Secret Clearance required
• 5 years of experience in Engineering Services.
