Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a Principal Developer, Oncology Data & AI Systems to strengthen the AI-ready data foundation powering Oncology R&D. This role leads data capture modernization, data product design, and scalable pipelines across Clinical, Pre-Clinical, and real-world data platforms.

Location options include Cambridge, MA; Spring House, PA; Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; or San Diego, CA (no remote). Up to 15% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/Life Sciences (advanced degree preferred).
• 5+ years in data engineering; healthcare industry preferred.
• Proficient in Python, R and SQL for data processing.
• Experience with AWS cloud platforms (Redshift, Glue, Lambda).
• Strong data modeling, schema design and database architecture skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional delivery with distributed teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to identify and deliver high-impact data, AI/ML, and GenAI use cases.
• Own end-to-end design and lifecycle management of Oncology R&D data products.
• Integrate and harmonize multi-modal R&D data to create trusted, reusable datasets.
• Co-develop an AI-ready data ecosystem with Engineers, Data Scientists, and IT.
• Translate scientific needs into scalable engineering solutions.
• Design and optimize data pipelines using Python, R, SQL and AWS.
• Implement robust data quality controls and KPI-driven measurement.
• Maintain data lineage, metadata, and versioning for compliance.
