Job summary

John Deere in United States (US) - Illinois - Moline is seeking a Lead OFP Assembly Manufacturing Engineer. You will design and optimize assembly lines, develop layouts, and use CAD and MES tools to support ramp-up to full production.

The role requires strong communication, 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience and knowledge of Lean, DFMA, MPPlanner, SAP and JDAAT. Competitive pay, comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or related field.
  • 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Principles and DFMA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Use CAD, process planning and facility planning tools to develop manufacturing process and facility plans.
  • Design tools and fixtures with external service providers.
  • Develop work instructions, line balances and 3D manufacturing layouts.
  • Work with MES tools (JDAAT) and product testing (JDTester).
  • Use simulation/analyses to validate process and facility plans and generate reports.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ramp up production.

Title: Lead OFP Assembly Manufacturing Engineer - 122387

Onsite/Remote: Onsite Position

Your Responsibilities
  • Use computer aided design, process planning and facility planning tools to develop manufacturing process and facility plans- this includes developing product synchronization charts, graphical sequence of events, creating logical line designs, establishing work methods, time standards and material handling methods
  • Concept tool and fixture designs including sourcing their design and build with external service providers
  • Develop work instructions and decision support methods, create line balances and detailed physical layouts and 3D manufacturing process layouts
  • Work with Manufacturing Execution System (MES tools JDAAT), and product testing (JDTester)
  • Use simulation and analysis techniques to validate and verify process and facility plans and provide analysis reports
  • Work with Operations and Order Fulfillment manufacturing personnel to begin limited production builds and help with ramping up to full production

What Skills You Need
  • Experience with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools
  • Experience with incentive pay plans (ex. CIPP)
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Computer Aided Design concepts and Computer Aided Process Planning concepts
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total productive maintenance and facilities
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) systems (JDAAT, AMES, Liaison, Factory Talk, etc.)
  • Experience in use and application of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and complete multiple, concurrent projects
What Makes You Stand Out
  • 3 or more years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Experience with mistake proofing and Design for Manufacturing Assembly (DFMA)
  • Experience with MPPlanner, SAP, & JDAAT
  • Experience with AGVs and Integrated Mfg controls
  • Experience managing capital projects of $100K+
  • Experience with assembly automation
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or related field
