Job summary

Pac​car is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Off-Highway team. You will develop and refine heavy-duty truck components from concept to production, leveraging Creo Parametric and collaborating with suppliers and plants.

The role requires 5-7+ years in automotive design, Six Sigma experience, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while traveling up to 10%. Work location is on-site with Kenworth facilities in the Seattle area.

Qualifications

• BSME required; Master’s degree in business or engineering and P.E./F.E. certificate preferred.
• 5-7+ years of experience in the specification and design of complex automotive components; proficient in Creo or other solid modeling software.
• Six Sigma and GD&T experience preferred; competent with PC software (word processing, databases, spreadsheets).

Responsibilities

• Participate in design and development of heavy-duty trucks within the Off-Highway/Medium Duty Group.
• Manage Plant Liaison Requests (PLRs) for the group and develop design fixes to plant issues.
• Oversee new product, warranty and cost-reduction projects and support plant/field issue resolution.
• Create optimized part/assembly models with Creo Parametric for moderate to complex designs.
• Collaborate with internal/external teams and suppliers to validate designs.
• Lead design responsibility for frame rails, cross-members, drivetrains, suspensions and related components.
• Track project schedules, budgets and requirements through full lifecycle.
