Essential Functions

• Assist the coordinator in all areas of the Occupational Therapy program and aid in the development and implementation of the school OT program.
• Serve as a member of the Clinical Team to coordinate interdisciplinary efforts.
• Work under the direction of the OT Coordinator following provided guidelines.
• Assist with administrative and program needs and shoulder a mandated service caseload ranging from half to full.
• Conduct screenings to determine developmental levels across perceptual motor, A.D.L., prevocational, musculoskeletal, sensory, and sensorimotor functioning, and recommend adaptive equipment.
• Determine treatment priorities, scheduling, and procedures for therapy services.
• Conduct re-evaluations for students receiving therapy per regulations or team recommendations, providing written progress reports.
• Provide therapy services individually or in small groups based on child needs.
• Maintain student records including attendance, I.E.P. information, initiation and discharge summaries.
• Develop and supervise classroom therapeutic programs for staff and parents.
• Consult with school personnel on recommendations.
• Maintain and use evaluative and therapeutic materials for the OT program.
• Participate in training programs within the school and conduct in-service demos for students, staff and parents.
• Ensure mandated services align with individual IEPs.
• Represent the agency as directed, interacting with regulatory and legislative organizations.
• Supervise and conduct periodic observations of OT personnel, assist them in achieving job objectives.
• Supervise OTAs and COTAs as assigned.
• Commit to continued professional growth through meetings, study groups, membership, and advanced courses.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or required by law or policy.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in occupational therapy and a valid New York State license as Registered Occupational Therapist.
• Experience: Minimum three (3) years successful experience as an Occupational Therapist. Demonstrated understanding of the needs of children with special needs, their parents, and professional staff.
