Job summary

The Wathena Healthcare & Rehab Center is seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist to provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment to assigned patients, helping them reach maximum performance and to use skills learned to function in the community.

Duties include administering and writing evaluations, maintaining records, directing support staff, designing individualized therapy, and developing home programs.

Qualifications

• OT degree from an accredited program and current AOTA registration.
• Proficiency with state, federal and professional standards.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Administers and writes evaluations of assigned patients per standards.
• Maintains timely patient records and reports.
• Directs support staff to achieve functional goals.
• Administers treatment programs to increase functioning.
• Designs therapy for adult learners with disabilities.
• Instructs on energy conservation and safety techniques.
• Develops home programs and trains patients/families.
• Participates in patient support groups with the team.

Job Summary: The Registered Occupational Therapist will provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment to assigned patients, and help patients reach maximum performance level and to use skills learned to the fullest to function in the community within the limits of their capabilities.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Administers and writes evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with departmental standards and procedures.
• Maintains timely and accurate patient records and reports.
• Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients' functional goals.
• Administers treatment programs to increase patients' levels of functioning.
• Designs individualized therapy for adult learning-disabled patients.
• Provides prevention therapy to maintain functional skills; instructs patients in energy conservation, joint protection, safety techniques for sensory loss, and transferring and visual field deficits; instructs patients' families in personal care for patients, especially proper transfer techniques to avoid back strain.
• Develops home programs and instructs patients or families in carrying out such programs.
• Participates in patient support groups with other team members.

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy
• Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association required.
• Proficiency with all applicable state, federal, and professional standards

Physical Requirements

• Duties require extensive standing and walking.
• Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
• Duties require frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
