Forum Communications Company in Fergus Falls seeks an experienced editor to lead the Fergus Falls Daily Journal’s newsroom. You will direct local news gathering, edit content for digital and print, manage workflows, and ensure timely publishing across platforms while building audience engagement in Otter Tail County.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree with at least four years newsroom experience, strong decision‑making and deadline discipline, and a hands‑on leadership style.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with newsroom experience.
• Experience in a daily setting and/or supervisory capacity.
• Strong decision‑making and deadline discipline.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct local news gathering and editorial functions for the newsroom on all relevant publishing platforms.
• Edit and produce content for the Daily Journal and special publications.
• Cover local government and community news.
• Maintain timely digital publishing workflows and ensure print deadlines are met.
• Establish agile, urgent news operation with digital-first workflows.
• Lead weekly newsroom meetings and maintain effective communication.
• Develop newsroom skills and performance with new digital tools and partnerships.
• Foster a healthy, inclusive workplace and manage newsroom budget.
