Job Description

Dobbs Defense Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team. The engineer will support a robust, worldwide communications network, providing office automation packages. Responsibilities include documenting management tools and collaboration, voice, and video tools within a secure, flexible, distributed architecture supporting a classified DoD IT system.

Duties
  1. Review and analyze existing network architecture; design modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies.
  2. Recommend best practices such as SDN, intent-based networking, and network segmentation protocols to improve architecture and meet new requirements.
  3. Design telecommunications circuit specifications.
  4. Identify needs for routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise services.
  5. Deliver service catalog items for automated network configuration provisioning (Infrastructure-as-Code).
  6. Develop and maintain network architecture specifications and artifacts.
  7. Design and plan network communication systems.
  8. Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  9. Conduct cost/benefit analyses for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and capacity planning.
  10. Test network designs.
  11. Monitor network hardware operations to ensure proper configuration.
  12. Plan enhancements and upgrades to the network.
  13. Advise network users on hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
  14. Maintain technical expertise in network hardware and software interconnection and interfacing.
  15. Evaluate and report on new communication technologies to enhance network capabilities.
Qualifications

Required education and experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years with a BS/BA; 6 years with MS/MA; 3 years with PhD; 4 years of additional work experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
  • TS/SCI clearance required.
  • Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience with expertise in routers, switches, firewalls, and unified communications.
  • Experience with VMware environments.
  • Experience with IP and Fiber Channel networks and routing protocols.
  • Experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, and low bandwidth networks with network encryptors.
  • Information Assurance Certifications aligned with 8570 IAT Level III.
  • Professional certifications in Cisco, VMware, and/or ITIL are desirable.
