We are seeking a Lead Network Engineer to join our team!
Responsibilities:
  1. Mentoring: Supervise, manage, and train junior to mid-level Network administrators/engineers.
  2. Network Design and Architecture: Collaborate with teams to design network architectures that meet operational requirements. Understand VoIP technology, including PoE desktop and soft phones, call management, routing, and have a general understanding of VoIP call center, voicemail, and collaboration software. Develop network diagrams, documentation, and implementation plans.
  3. Network Implementation: Configure and deploy network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs. Ensure proper installation and adherence to industry best practices.
  4. Network Security: Implement and manage security measures, monitor traffic for unusual activity, and respond to incidents.
  5. Network Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze network performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for efficiency.
  6. Network Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, collaborate with teams and vendors, and analyze IP packet flows.
  7. Network Upgrades and Patches: Plan and execute hardware upgrades and firmware updates, applying security patches.
  8. Network Monitoring and Management: Use monitoring tools to proactively detect issues, ensure devices are properly configured, monitored, and backed up.
  9. Network Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation, including diagrams and procedures.
  10. Network Capacity Planning: Evaluate and plan for future network growth with scalable solutions.
  11. Collaboration: Coordinate with other IT teams to integrate network infrastructure with enterprise applications and services.
Professional Experience and Skills:
  1. Proven experience designing, implementing, supporting federally-owned network infrastructure.
  2. Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and concepts.
  3. Experience with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
  4. Familiarity with network security principles and best practices.
  5. Proficiency with network monitoring and management tools.
  6. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex issues.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Education and Experience:
  1. Minimum of 10+ years of network experience.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  3. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
Security Clearance:
  1. Must be eligible to work in the U.S., undergo a security investigation, and access protected information.
  2. Active Top Secret (TS) clearance is highly desirable.
Work Location:
  • Washington, DC (100% on-site, 5 days/week)
