We are seeking a Lead Network Engineer to join our team!
Responsibilities:
- Mentoring: Supervise, manage, and train junior to mid-level Network administrators/engineers.
- Network Design and Architecture: Collaborate with teams to design network architectures that meet operational requirements. Understand VoIP technology, including PoE desktop and soft phones, call management, routing, and have a general understanding of VoIP call center, voicemail, and collaboration software. Develop network diagrams, documentation, and implementation plans.
- Network Implementation: Configure and deploy network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs. Ensure proper installation and adherence to industry best practices.
- Network Security: Implement and manage security measures, monitor traffic for unusual activity, and respond to incidents.
- Network Performance Optimization: Monitor and analyze network performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for efficiency.
- Network Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, collaborate with teams and vendors, and analyze IP packet flows.
- Network Upgrades and Patches: Plan and execute hardware upgrades and firmware updates, applying security patches.
- Network Monitoring and Management: Use monitoring tools to proactively detect issues, ensure devices are properly configured, monitored, and backed up.
- Network Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation, including diagrams and procedures.
- Network Capacity Planning: Evaluate and plan for future network growth with scalable solutions.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other IT teams to integrate network infrastructure with enterprise applications and services.
Professional Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience designing, implementing, supporting federally-owned network infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and concepts.
- Experience with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
- Familiarity with network security principles and best practices.
- Proficiency with network monitoring and management tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 10+ years of network experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
Security Clearance:
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S., undergo a security investigation, and access protected information.
- Active Top Secret (TS) clearance is highly desirable.
Work Location:
- Washington, DC (100% on-site, 5 days/week)
