Job summary

ByteDance is seeking a Senior Network Capacity Planning Engineer in San Jose to forecast and manage global network demand across data centers, backbone, and cloud. You will define forecasting methods, backtest accuracy, and enhance models for seasonality and events.

You will lead capacity planning, quantify risks, and translate plans into concrete build requirements with clear timelines. You will build scalable pipelines and dashboards, partner with the OneNet team on automation, and mentor

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent.
• Proven experience applying quantitative methodologies to analyze network performance and capacity metrics.
• In-depth understanding of network devices, protocols, routing, and resiliency (e.g., BGP/IGP, ECMP, failure domains, traffic engineering concepts).

Responsibilities

• Own capacity forecasting and modeling for ByteDance global network traffic across horizons (weekly/quarterly/annual).
• Lead capacity planning and network expansion strategy with headroom policies and redundancy targets.
• Build scalable data tooling and dashboards for forecasting and planning workflows.
• Cross-functional leadership to align demand signals and roll planning into roadmaps.
• Deliver governance, readouts, and risk assessment for leadership.
