Job summary

Roadrunner is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (.NET) in Downers Grove, IL to drive design and delivery of scalable services and APIs.

You'll modernize legacy systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate with architecture and operations to solve real freight challenges on Azure.

We value hands-on leadership, strong C#/.NET, SQL Server, React/TypeScript, and a track record of shipping production-grade software in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 8+ years of production software experience in C# and .NET (modern .NET, ASP.NET Core, EF Core).
• Strong SQL Server data modeling and query tuning expertise.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and system integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, secure services and web apps (C#, .NET 8+, ASP.NET Core, React, Azure).
• Lead modernization of legacy applications through refactoring and re-platforming.
• Design APIs and integrations with internal systems, customers, and partners.
• Own production quality: CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and secure coding.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and day-to-day coaching.
