Job summary

Greywright Inc. is seeking a Naval Architect to lead the build-out and improvement of hull and structural designs for high-performance autonomous craft. You will own laminate composite hull design from material selection and layup schedules through structural analysis, build, and sea trials.

You will balance speed, strength, weight, seakeeping, and signature while ensuring compliance with U.S. Navy requirements. Travel up to 50% may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in a naval architecture or closely related field.
• 8+ years of naval architecture experience, including high-performance craft design.
• Deep expertise in laminate composite hull design and layup schedules.
• Experience delivering to Navy or government customers and familiarity with Navy standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead naval architecture for high-performance autonomous craft through detailed design, build, and trials.
• Design laminate composite hull/deck structures and define layup schedules.
• Perform structural analysis of laminates, including scantling, FEA, slamming and fatigue.
• Predict and optimize resistance, powering, stability, and seakeeping for high sea states.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. Navy design requirements and support design reviews with Navy customers.
• Develop hull form and structural approaches for signature management.
• Coordinate with builders and suppliers on manufacturability and quality.
• Plan model tests and sea trials, and correlate data with design predictions.
• Own design documentation and mentor other engineers.
