Job summary

Greywright Inc. in Boston seeks an Associate Mechanical Engineer to develop mechanical designs for autonomous vessels, serving as the team CAD expert and turning concepts into buildable parts.

You will work with senior engineers and naval architect, manage 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and participate in fabrication, testing, and shop assembly. Travel up to 50% and security-clearance eligibility may apply.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Marine, or Ocean Engineering or related field.
• 1–4 years design experience with internships or project teams.
• Expert-level CAD skills for large assemblies and surfacing.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain 3D CAD models and large assemblies for vessel structures, equipment mounts, enclosures, and payload integration.
• Produce fabrication-ready drawings with clear GD&T, tolerances, and bills of materials.
• Iterate quickly with engineers, turning sketches, markups, and requirements into clean, manufacturable designs.
• Manage CAD data, including part numbering, revision control, and PDM/PLM workflows.
• Maintain and improve CAD standards, templates, and part libraries for the team.
• Prepare models for analysis, 3D printing, machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
• Support FEA and design reviews under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Work with machine shops and fabricators to resolve build questions, and help assemble and install hardware in the shop and on the water.
