Job summary

Fluidstack seeks a senior engineer to own the clean-sheet design of its metal-clad MV switchgear platform and to deliver a production-released, fully type-tested lineup for data center infrastructure.

You will lead a dedicated engineering team through design, testing, and compliance, running IEEE C37.20.2 and C37.09 campaigns in parallel and overseeing high-power lab tests such as short-circuit, internal arc, and BIL. This role requires US work authorization and production-release leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience designing metal-clad MV switchgear and/or GIS switchgear at an OEM as the accountable engineer.
• Experience taking a switchgear design through a full type-test campaign at a high-power lab.
• Experience leading redesign after a failed internal arc or short-circuit test.
• Experience making insulation coordination, bus bracing, creepage, and clearance decisions.
• Experience integrating third-party breaker elements or operating mechanisms into an owned enclosure and secondary design.
• Experience leading a product team from first concept to production release.
• Experience holding the design freeze against late-arriving change requests.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Own the clean-sheet design of Fluidstack's wholly-owned metal-clad MV switchgear platform.
• Deliver a production-released, fully type-tested lineup.
• Run IEEE C37.20.2 and C37.09 test campaigns in parallel.
• Lead a dedicated engineering team across design, testing, and compliance.
• Run high-power laboratory type tests covering short-circuit, internal arc, BIL, and temperature rise.
• Own redesign loops following test results.
• Define ratings ladder, protection and IED integration, and racking and interlock architecture.
• Develop MV distribution equipment for Fluidstack's data center infrastructure.
