Job summary

The Detroit Institute of Arts is seeking a Supervisor, Protection Services to lead security operations, oversee Museum Security Officers, and collaborate with staff to safeguard visitors and the collection. The role reports to the Manager, Protection Services and requires strong leadership, incident response, and communication skills.

Responsibilities include staffing posts, conducting patrols, investigations, and coordinating with external partners. Evening and weekend hours are required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in related field required; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Three (3) years of security or protection services experience required.
• One (1) year of supervisory experience required.
• CPR certification required or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, mentor, and manage Museum Security Officers and Exhibition Security Officers to meet department needs.
• Gather information from multiple sources to assess threats and priorities.
• Coordinate responses to events with internal and external stakeholders.
• Document responses in the records management system.
• Conduct investigations using various resources and methods.
• Perform frequent proactive patrols of the museum, including galleries and exterior areas.
• Ensure staff follow procedures and provide on-floor coaching.
• Support security operations during regular hours and events.
