Job summary

Shield AI, a defense-tech company, seeks an experienced mechanical engineer to design electric motors for X-BAT and related aircraft systems. You will develop sub-systems, create detailed CAD drawings, and ensure integration with the aircraft structure, power electronics, and thermal management.

You will collaborate with manufacturing to release instructions, perform rigorous testing on a dyno and full aircraft, and validate NVH performance while maintaining high standards and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience designing electric motors.
• Strong fundamentals in materials, mechanics, dynamics, thermal, DFM and tolerancing.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of motors and sub-systems for X-BAT and other aircraft.
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of electromechanical designs at subsystem level.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to release detailed work instructions.
• Perform hands-on testing and full qualification on dyno, engine test stand, and full aircraft.
• Conduct NVH testing for motors and power electronics and iterate designs.
