Job summary

BioReference Laboratories seeks a Molecular STI Laboratory Lead Technologist to perform complex testing in detection, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients. You will work with the laboratory team to ensure accurate, timely results and may assist in developing new procedures.

The role requires a bachelor degree in medical technology or related life science, relevant experience, state licensure where required, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science and meets CLIA personnel standard criteria.
• 1 year of relevant work experience as a Medical Lab Technologist.
• State licensure where applicable (CA, FL, NY).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Math, computer, reasoning, and language skills at the college level (2 years).
• Ability to pass color vision test.
• ASCP or other national certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows written lab procedures for the correct handling and processing of specimens.
• Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all technical procedures in the department and operations of all instrumentation.
• Brings unusual situations to the attention of the Supervisor.
• Assists in the orientation and training of new employees; serves as a resource to peers.
• Performs quality control procedures and maintains accurate records; analyzes QC data and takes corrective action.
• Operates laboratory instruments and performs routine maintenance; troubleshoots and documents problems.
• Reviews Pending Logs and resolves missing specimen issues; escalate when unresolved.
• Participates in the evaluation and development of new procedures, methods and instruments.
• May adjust schedule to meet the needs/demands of the company.
