Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer in the Government Space and Emerging Technologies group to spearhead Modeling & Simulation efforts for advanced communications and sensing systems. You will build mission- and system-level simulators, guide trade studies, and deliver analyses to inform design decisions and customer engagements.

Requires 10+ years, Top Secret clearance, and willingness to travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in a technical field relevant to EE, physics, math, CS, or systems engineering.
10+ years in modeling, simulation, mission analysis, or system engineering for complex defense/space systems.
Strong systems engineering principles applied to simulation-driven development.
Experience building mission-level and system-level simulation frameworks.
Experience with architecture trade studies and performance assessments.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain mission-level, system-level, and subsystem-level simulation environments.
Lead architecture trade studies using simulation and quantitative analysis.
Build and execute digital twins and mission simulations for system development and customer evaluation.
Perform sensitivity analyses, Monte Carlo assessments, and uncertainty analyses across scenarios.
Partner with project engineers to ensure simulation results inform design decisions and risk mitigation.
Support verification and validation through model correlation and test planning.
Deliver high-quality technical reports and customer-facing briefings.
Leverage Generative AI tools to enhance productivity.
