Job summary

Draper in Cambridge seeks a Principal Microfluidics Engineer to advance microphysiological systems and organ-on-chip technologies. You will apply deep biology and engineering knowledge to innovate devices, lead cross-disciplinary projects, and mentor engineers in a collaborative R&D setting.

The role emphasizes hands-on microfabrication, data analysis, and technical leadership. A PhD or MS with relevant experience is preferred; onsite in Cambridge, MA with potential security clearance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of bioengineering or related engineering experience.
  • Design, model, fabricate, and characterize microfluidic devices for tissue engineering.
  • Lead teams of engineers in development of new devices and technologies.
  • Knowledge of microfabrication techniques and organ-on-chip applications preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, fabricate, and test microfluidic devices for cell and tissue engineering applications.
  • Develop and execute laboratory research plans supporting project goals and milestones.
  • Experimental design, assay execution, troubleshooting, and data analysis for biology–engineering studies.
  • Document, present, and provide written reports of results.
  • Lead teams of engineers in development of new devices and technologies.
  • Coordinate and supervise lab staff and resources; contribute to sponsor proposals.
