Job summary

Lesaffre in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Lead Lab Tech to perform chemical, physical, and microbiological analyses of raw materials and yeast, coordinating weekend activities and ensuring safety.

You will follow procedures, maintain equipment, and support cross-department collaboration while leading a small team and ensuring timely test results. Qualifications include an associate degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, or Food Science; bachelor’s preferred; proficiency with Microsoft 365 is welcome.

Qualifications

• Must have associate degree in a related field.
• Bachelor's degree or 2 years of chemistry lab experience preferred.
• Ability to follow written procedures, be organized, precise and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lead a team and provide guidance for coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical and physical analysis of raw materials and yeast.
• Conduct microbiological analysis on products in-process and finished.
• Coordinate and lead Laboratory activities, including weekends.
• Maintain equipment and work area, perform tests per procedures, and record results.
• Prepare chemical solutions and ensure supply stock for processing areas.
• Run repeat analyses when results are unusual and troubleshoot equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
