Job summary

Okland Construction is seeking an experienced MEP Estimator to lead the estimation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for large-scale commercial and institutional projects. You will guide the preconstruction team, develop cost benchmarks, and work with design teams and subcontractors to ensure accurate, competitive bids.

The ideal candidate brings deep MEP knowledge, extensive estimating experience on high-value builds, and strong communication skills to present findings to clients

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in MEP estimating, with at least 5 years on projects over $150 million.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, plumbing, and building automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead MEP estimating efforts from conceptual design through final bid for large-scale projects.
• Analyze drawings and documents to prepare comprehensive MEP cost estimates.
• Collaborate with general estimators, design teams, and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing.
• Develop and maintain unit cost databases and historical data for MEP systems.
• Conduct value engineering and cost-saving analysis without compromising design intent.
• Participate in design-assist and design-build project delivery methods.
• Evaluate and level subcontractor bids and proposals for MEP scopes.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
• Provide constructability reviews and identify risks and opportunities in MEP systems.
• Stay current with industry trends, codes and technologies in MEP.
