Suncoast Behavioral Health Center offers unique treatment programs across inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient settings for children and adolescents.

In a highly specialized field of psychiatry, our goal is to promote cognitive, social, physical and emotional development to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to help our patients succeed.

The Hospital is looking for a Lead Mental Health Tech: Evenings 3P - 11:30P. The Lead Mental Health Technician provides direct patient care to children and adolescents in a behavioral health setting. The Lead Mental Health Technician’s primary responsibility is to ensure patient safety on the units. The Lead Mental Health Technician is responsible for ensuring that direct care and unit tasks are being performed according to hospital policy. The Lead Mental Health Technician has a patient assignment and assists the patient in treatment, recreation, and other activities of daily living to assess changes in their social behaviors and clinical status. Functions include but are not limited to: ensuring the program schedule is being followed, assignment of unit tasks, ensuring hospital policies are enforced. The Lead Mental Health Technician is responsible for understanding and using the least restrictive interventions per facility policy and successfully avoiding seclusion and restraint whenever possible.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year previous psychiatric/behavioral direct care experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a Mental Health Tech working with children, adolescents and/or adults.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Extensive walking, standing, sitting. Must be able to lift over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds. Must be able to participate in the physical restraint and seclusion of patients. Must be able to participate in and complete Handle With Care Training on an annual basis.
