Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH is seeking a Lead Medical Technologist to provide oversight in the Central Processing Area, with focus on the send-out area and Lab Customer Service.

You will help with workflows, billing-related processes, and coordination to ensure accurate, timely patient care, while mentoring staff and contributing to learning materials and competency exams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• Or an Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology AND a Bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science.
• 2 years of relevant experience required.
• ASCP certification required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations in the Central Processing Area, including send-out and Lab Customer Service functions.
• Assist with operational workflows and billing-related processes to support patient care.
• Participate in orientation and training of new staff; develop learning materials and competency exams.
• Provide training summaries, support staff evaluations, technical procedure writing, and staff supervision.

Education

Bachelor's degree in clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology

Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology AND Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science
