Job summary

Join Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital as a Lead Laboratory Technologist. You will serve as a Medical Technologist supporting multiple areas, including educational and technical resource initiatives. The role runs days from 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with rotating weekends and holidays.

You will perform compliant testing, maintain QC/QA, and participate in instrument maintenance, training, and process improvements under the Medical Director and Laboratory Director guidance.

Qualifications

• Pattern I: Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution AND three years of laboratory training or experience, or both in non-waived testing
• Pattern II: Meets the CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing personnel
• Education outside of the United States requires diploma/transcripts translated into English and proof of foreign equivalency

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing compliantly and maintain regulatory knowledge and awareness of specific job duties
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities, instrument calibrations, procedural calibrations and maintenance performed
• Assume responsibility for and act regarding any quality control or quality assurance issues as it pertains to specific job duties
• Perform proficiency testing in compliance with CLIA regulations
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and notify appropriate supervisor or director
• Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviated from performance specifications
• In Educational track: educate and train students, employees, and residents
• Conduct lab orientation for new employees and coordinate continuing education programs
• Assist in validation/verification of new assays under Medical Director direction
• Write technical procedures for review and approval
• Train medical technologists in new testing procedures
• Resolve daily technical problems and serve as a technical resource
• Recognize and resolve complex technical problems and provide solutions
• Oversee troubleshooting and repair of laboratory instruments/equipment
• Ensure procedure manuals are up to date and reviewed annually
