Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in the Blood Bank specialty.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for adequate staffing and adjusts schedules as needed.
• Provides technical supervisory coverage of the laboratory for equipment or reagent problems.
• Advises the manager/director of issues affecting the laboratory.
• Compiles statistics for the laboratory performance improvement program.
• Orients new employees, conducts inservices, ensures competency testing and annual safety training.
• Oversees quality control and ensures records are reviewed with corrective action documented.
• Oversees proficiency testing and ensures timely results with proper investigations.
• Holds monthly staff meetings with minutes and sign-in sheets; reports improvement results.
• Implements the laboratory safety program and ensures compliance with safety goals.
• Coordinates Pathology Department functions with leadership to improve workflow.
