Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a seasoned Medical Physics leader to oversee all physics operations in the radiotherapy clinic. You will perform advanced treatment planning, patient positioning support, and comprehensive QA while guiding a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, therapists, and dosimetrists.

Responsibilities include developing therapy specifications, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading commissioning, protocol development, and clinical research to advance patient care.

Qualifications

• ABR Board Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics is required.
• Illinois EM registered Therapeutic Radiological Physicist credential required.
• PhD is preferred but not mandatory depending on profile.
• Experience with diagnostic imaging registration is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversees all medical physics operations within the radiotherapy clinic.
• Performs complex treatment planning, patient positioning support, and QA.
• Guides collaboration with physicians, nurses, therapists, and dosimetrists.
• Develops specifications for external beam therapy, brachytherapy, simulations, and dosimetry.
• Ensures regulatory and accreditation compliance for equipment and detectors.
• Conducts acceptance testing, commissioning, and system evaluation of therapy equipment.
• Creates treatment protocols and clinical operation documents.
• Provides expert consultation on dosimetry and patient care to physicians.
• Mentors medical physics assistants, residents, and dosimetrists; supports education and development.
