Job summary

Northwestern Memorial Hospital is seeking a Medical Physicist to lead the physics section of Radiosurgery and Radiation Oncology. You will supervise staff, oversee QA, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate with physicians and nurses to support high-quality patient care.

The role requires a PhD or equivalent in Physics or Engineering, an Illinois radiological safety registration or eligibility, and ABR certifications.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in Physics or Engineering is required.
• Faculty appointment with Northwestern University Medical School is required.
• Illinois Nuclear Safety registration or eligibility is required.
• Board Certification in Therapeutic Radiology or Diagnostic Radiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains primary responsibility for all physics operations, including workflow and staff assignments.
• Identifies and resolves daily operational issues related to physics in patient care.
• Interacts with physicians, nursing, and therapists to ensure smooth treatment delivery.
• Directs physics staff including Radiation Physicists, Dosimetrists, LAN Admin, and Instrument Designer.
• Participates in performance reviews, staff growth, and development.
• Assists in administrative duties like budget development, inventory, and supply ordering.
• Ensures QA and regulatory compliance and maintains safety documentation.
• Keeps up to date with ACR and AAPM standards and radiation safety programs.
