Job summary

Bay Area Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technical Specialist to perform clinical laboratory testing and monitor quality control within the Laboratory department. The role involves ensuring compliance with CLIA-88, CAP, and Joint Commission standards while coordinating test workflows to optimize turnaround times.

The incumbent will lead and mentor staff, oversee QC and proficiency testing, and stay abreast of new methodologies and instrumentation to enhance diagnostic accuracy.

Qualifications

• Five years minimum as a Medical Lab Scientist in a clinical lab.
• Two years minimum in a lead scientist or leadership role.
• Experience with LIS/HIS, automated analyzers, QC processes.
• ASCP/AMT/NCA or equivalent registry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing using automated equipment and manual procedures.
• Monitor quality control and proficiency testing.
• Oversee QC documentation and equipment maintenance records.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA-88, CAP, and Joint Commission.
• Develop workflows to improve turnaround time and service quality.
