Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX, is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist II for a full-time role in the LABORATORY. You will perform complex laboratory analyses, supervise technicians, and participate in quality assurance and procedures development to ensure accurate patient results.

The position requires a CLS degree, ASCP MLS certification within a year, and at least two years of experience. English/Spanish bilingual ability is preferred, with strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Applied Sciences required.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the ASCP or equivalent within one year of hire date (required).
• Minimum of two years’ experience required.
• Proficient knowledge of clinical laboratory processes, testing and analytical procedures and equipment.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of directing the work of Medical Technologists and lower level staff.
• Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Bilingual – English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Develop and establish procedures for collecting, processing, and analyzing biological specimens and other substances.
• Perform analytical tests of body fluids, blood, serum, plasma, cells, and other substances; integrate data from multiple labs.
• Oversee and mentor Lab Assistants and Phlebotomists; coordinate work.
• Provide leadership in educating other health personnel and community.
