Job Description

The Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and administrative oversight, directing workflow and personnel performing laboratory tests.
  • Assist in assay validations, instrument correlations, calibrations, and data interpretation for new testing protocols.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and inspection readiness, review and update documentation, and handle proficiency testing investigations.
  • Manage pre-analytic workflow, specimen collection, verification, and processing.
  • Perform analytical testing, maintain test system integrity, and oversee preventative maintenance and inventory.
  • Conduct quality control, evaluate results, and perform troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Train staff, participate in new test development, and ensure safety and confidentiality standards.
  • Utilize Laboratory Information Systems effectively, ensure data integrity, and oversee billing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field, qualifying for the ASCP certifying exam.
  • Must obtain Medical Laboratory Technician (MLS) or equivalent certification within 1 year if hired after 1/19/2025.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical lab experience in a TJC or CAP accredited laboratory.
