Job summary

Piedmont Fayette Hospital is seeking a laboratory leader to oversee daily operations, ensure compliance, and collaborate with team members to maintain high-quality testing and results.

The role requires a bachelor’s level degree in clinical laboratory science or related field, plus ASCP/AMT/AAB certification and hospital experience. Sign-on bonus available; shift is Monday–Friday, 7a–3:30p.

Qualifications

• 3 years of hospital experience required.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist required upon hire; ASCP/AMT/AAB accepted.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of laboratory management, is responsible for leading all aspects of operation in assigned section/team/department, including preparation and maintenance of records, reports, policies and procedures; analysis of testing methodologies, employee training/staffing, technical oversight, and compliance. Works in collaboration with team members to ensure that tasks, priorities, goals and achievements are coordinated with management. Assist with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, and maintenance within assigned area. Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating and preventing disease.

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• 3 years of hospital experience Required
• Previous lead or supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations.
