Job summary

Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville, GA is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to lead all aspects of operation in the assigned section, ensuring compliance and quality.

The role requires a hospital background, ASCP/AMT/AAB certification on hire, and at least 3 years of experience, with supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or life/biological science preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of hospital experience; lead/supervisory experience preferred.
• Certification as a medical technologist or MLS per Georgia regulations; upon hire required; AAB provisional certification not accepted.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of operation in assigned section/team/department, including preparation and maintenance of records, reports, policies and procedures; analysis of testing methodologies, employee training/staffing, technical oversight, and compliance.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure tasks, priorities, goals and achievements are coordinated with management.
• Assist with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, and maintenance within assigned area.
• Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating and preventing disease.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• 3 years of hospital experience Required
• Previous lead or supervisory experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations.
