Position Overview

Roche’s Clinical Development organization focuses on late-stage (Phase II–III) clinical strategies to develop innovative therapies that significantly improve patient outcomes. The Lead Medical Director will contribute to the development and execution of clinical strategies for specific molecules and indications, ensuring effective and efficient clinical development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support and develop the Clinical Development Plan (CDP) for assigned molecules and indications, including data analysis and study design participation.
2. Act as a medical monitor for clinical studies.
3. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across various functions such as research, commercial, legal, and business development.
4. Provide clinical science input during early development and Phase I/II studies, including protocol reviews.
5. Contribute to regulatory filings and documentation, providing clinical science expertise.
6. Ensure alignment of the CD plan with strategic and operational goals, working with the Clinical Science Team and other stakeholders.

Location and Travel

This is an on-site position, preferably based in South San Francisco, CA, with other options in Boston, MA, Basel, Switzerland, and Welwyn, UK. No relocation benefits are provided.

Qualifications

Required:

• MD/MBBS, MD/PhD, with 3+ years clinical experience, Board Certified or equivalent in Rheumatology, or 10+ years clinical/research experience in Rheumatology.
• 2+ years of clinical/scientific research or clinical trial experience post-graduation.
• Strong data analysis, interpretation skills, and scientific writing experience.
• Excellent communication skills for scientific presentations and discussions.

Preferred:

• Industry experience in pharma or biotech.
• 2+ years of clinical development experience in pharma/biotech.
• Knowledge of various clinical trial designs and drug development processes.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and collaborate effectively.

Compensation and Benefits
