Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is a leading network of outpatient medical centers offering primary and urgent care. This position provides general medical care under supervision in an outpatient setting, supporting exam procedures, patient prep, and documentation.

AFC centers emphasize walk-in visits seven days a week, with onsite labs and x-ray capabilities. Candidates typically hold an Associate degree or equivalent, with preferred AMT registration or AAMA certification.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent; AMT registration and AAMA certification preferred.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; equivalent education/experience accepted.
  • AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire and train Medical Assistant staff.
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit; prepare for exams.
  • Explain procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Ensure all tests are performed accurately and timely.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per procedure.
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for processing.
  • Perform lab tests and quality controls per instructions.
  • Coordinate laboratory oversight with Lab Director and Medical Director.
  • Conduct drug screenings per rules and regulations.
  • Document immunizations and administer per procedure.
  • Assist with referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities
  • Interview, hire and train Medical Assistant staff
  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Coordinate oversight of laboratory with Lab Director, Lab Consultant, and Medical Director as needed
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented, administered in accordance with approved procedure, and stored appropriately
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
