Job summary

Burnett Specialists in Texas is seeking a Senior Estimator to oversee all estimating functions for the mechanical and plumbing division. You will provide leadership, accuracy, and strategic direction to bid pursuits, ensuring consistency and competitiveness across bids.

Responsibilities include directing estimating activities, mentoring the team, and collaborating with clients and contractors to win profitable projects while improving estimating procedures and workflows.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive estimating experience in mechanical and plumbing construction.
• Demonstrated success in leading estimating teams and winning complex bids.
• Deep understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems, materials, and installation practices.
• Advanced knowledge of estimating software, Excel, and takeoff platforms.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate all estimating activities and personnel.
• Develop bid strategies, review final estimates, and ensure accuracy before submission.
• Evaluate project risk and provide recommendations on markups, margins, and contingencies.
• Lead major mechanical and plumbing project estimates exceeding company thresholds.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, general contractors, and suppliers.
• Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to the estimating team.
• Support business development by participating in preconstruction meetings and client interviews.
• Continuously improve estimating procedures, databases, and workflows.
