Job summary

The City of Montgomery, Alabama is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to enforce codes on gas and mechanical installations within commercial and residential settings. Qualifications

• Five (5) years' experience in residential and commercial installation or inspection of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Must have or obtain a valid Alabama driver's license as needed to operate a City vehicle in inspections.
• Certification within one (1) year of employment as a Mechanical Inspector (Commercial) through ICC.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the installation of mechanical components of commercial kitchen appliances, HVAC equipment, gas/oil piping, and ventilating equipment.
• Consult with supervisors, contractors, architects, engineers, owners and the public regarding questions on codes and ordinances.
• Perform general office functions and assist in permit enforcement under supervision.
