Beyond Reach Labs, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in New York to design, analyze, and validate mechanical systems and actuators for deployable space structures.

You will own mechanism subsystems from requirements to flight qualification and lead trade studies to optimize designs for satellites. You will develop CAD models, perform FEA/thermal analyses, and drive test plans, qualification approaches, and design reviews across cross-functional teams while mentoring junior engineers

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on engineering experience with satellite or launch vehicle mechanisms.
• Experience taking a spaceflight mechanism from design through qualification as the responsible engineer.
• Experience designing and qualifying mechanisms driven by stepper or BLDC motors, springs, and HDRMs.
• Proficient in CAD modeling and production drawings for analysis and manufacturing.

• Own mechanism subsystems as the Responsible Engineer from requirements through flight qualification.
• Lead trade studies on mechanism design options using First Principles Engineering Analysis.
• Create and review CAD models, mechanism architecture, materials, lubrication, assembly processes, and test methods.
• Conduct and review static, dynamic, thermal, and fatigue analyses to ensure margins and reliability.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and lead anomaly investigations during development.
• Define qualification plans and acceptance testing methods, and present designs at design reviews.
• Produce and approve complete design packages including drawings, reports, BOMs, and assembly documentation.
