Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for our Power Generation and Renewable team in the Southeast.

You will oversee day-to-day mechanical engineering and design deliverables for power facilities—simple cycle, combined cycle, PV solar, and energy storage—while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with multi-discipline teams. The role requires a PE license, a minimum of 10 years in the Power Market Sector, and strong proficiency with MS Office and industry design tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Power Market Sector.
• Professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) required.
• Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
• Proficient computer skills in MS Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
• Active participation in our employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead design team through schematic design to contract document phase.
• Mentor and develop engineers and designers.
• Coordinate workload to meet schedules and deliverables.
• Perform high-complexity engineering designs and analyses.
• Develop mechanical P&IDs for power plant systems and prepare equipment sizing.
• Prepare mechanical drawings and BOMs.
