Job summary

Duke Energy in Citrus County, Florida, seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to serve as the primary mechanical system owner for Citrus Combined Cycle Station. You will drive reliability, lifecycle planning, outages, and cost-effective operation through risk assessment and project execution.

The role requires PE licensure, ABET-accredited B.S. in engineering, and extensive experience with mechanical systems, ASME codes, and Maximo.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited BS in Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in current standing required
  • Advanced engineering knowledge and independent problem solving
  • Ability to lead outages and coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Experience with mechanical systems in power plant environments
  • Knowledge of ASME codes and HRSG-related topics
  • Familiarity with Maximo, PowerPlan, PI Vision, MS Office, ACT
  • Strong planning, budgeting, and project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as system owner for assigned mechanical systems and equipment, accountable for condition, performance, reliability, and long-range planning
  • Monitor system health via data trends, inspections, and evaluations
  • Lead root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and outage support for complex issues
  • Develop maintenance, replacement, upgrade, and spare-parts strategies with Operations/Maintenance
  • Provide engineering leadership for planned/forced outages, including scopes and contractor coordination
  • Identify and manage capital and O&M projects with business cases and schedules
  • Maintain configuration control for drawings and records, support Maximo data
  • Support plant health, asset risk, budgeting, and PowerPlan portfolio planning
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, OEMs, and safety/environmental teams
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory and corporate requirements
