Job summary

HDR in Phoenix seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a multi‑discipline team supporting power and energy projects across utility, IPP, industrial and municipal sectors. You will lead mechanical design efforts and coordinate with other engineering disciplines, providing technical and contractual support for owner’s engineer projects.

The role requires travel (about 10%) for site surveys and client meetings.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain reciprocity.
Experience in project execution within Power Market Sector.
Proficient in MS Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with the project mechanical team and other engineering disciplines.
Monitor project status and provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects.
Lead mechanical engineer/engineering manager tasks and mentor junior staff as needed.
Support projects involving traditional generation technologies and renewables (solar/wind) and energy storage.
Travel for site surveys, technical conferences, client meetings, and monitoring of construction (about 10%).
