Job summary

KLJ in Grand Junction, CO is seeking a senior mechanical engineer with pipeline design experience to lead projects under mentorship. You will engage with DOT/PHMSA requirements, prepare proposals, schedules, and communications, and guide junior staff.

A PE is preferred and ABET-accredited degree is required. Responsibilities include hydraulic modeling, MAOP calculations, and ensuring compliance with API/ASME/NFPA standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology from ABET accredited school.
• 5-10+ years of relevant experience.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Ability to balance multiple, fast-paced projects through communication and prioritization of tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineer on DOT/PHMSA jurisdictional and non-regulated pipeline projects.
• Assist with client proposals, project schedules, and client communications.
• Develop engineering calculations, pipeline modeling, and problem solving.
• Coordinate with cross-discipline teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Provide QA/QC to plans, alignment sheets, P&IDs, and pipeline facility designs.
