Job summary

GE HealthCare seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the thermal and structural design, analysis, and verification of MRI gradient coils within state-of-the-art MRI systems. You will partner with cross‑functional teams across the full product lifecycle, from concept through manufacturing, verification and field support.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 years of mechanical design and analysis experience, and proficiency in ANSYS (preferred) with experience in

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of mechanical design and analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in structural failure analysis and fatigue design.
  • Proficiency in ANSYS (preferred) or similar tools (Abaqus, COMSOL).

Responsibilities

  • Lead thermal and structural analysis of MRI gradient coils and supporting components.
  • Develop innovative solutions that meet performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Own mechanical design tradeoffs and ensure alignment with system‑level requirements.
  • Define and execute verification strategies, including thermal‑mechanical testing and correlation with analytical models.
