Job summary

Scott Safety in Monroe, NC seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to advance SCBA product design from concept through commercialization. You will guide mechanical development and lead cross-functional teams, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

You will mentor engineers, drive design reviews, and address complex technical challenges while coordinating with Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams for timely, compliant product releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical design and product development experience in relevant environments.
• 5+ years of technical leadership, team leadership, or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Mechanical Product Development: guide design, development, and integration of mechanical components for SCBA products across the development lifecycle.
• Provide Technical Leadership & Engineering Direction: mentor engineers, support planning, reviews, decisions, and problem resolution.
• Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Lab Operations, and Product Management teams.
• Support Product Validation & Regulatory Compliance: lead design reviews, risk assessments, validation, certification, and submissions.
• Solve Complex Technical Challenges: apply structured analysis, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Communicate Program Status & Technical Risks: provide proactive updates on progress, risks, and milestones.
