Job summary

HR Green is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to deliver HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for water and wastewater infrastructure, with ownership from concept to construction. You will influence design decisions and interface directly with clients across municipal and industrial projects.

You will collaborate with process, civil, structural, and electrical engineers, mentor junior staff, perform QA/QC, and help shape proposals while delivering resilient, high-performing facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 10+ years of HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection design experience.
• Experience with water/wastewater or industrial facilities is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for water and wastewater facilities.
• Serve as a technical authority on mechanical systems in challenging environments.
• Drive design from planning through construction support.
• Collaborate with process, civil, structural, and electrical engineers on integrated designs.
• Provide direct client interaction and build long-term partnerships.
• Perform QA/QC of mechanical designs and mentor junior staff.
• Support RFIs, submittals, and field coordination during construction.
• Contribute to proposals and shape upcoming projects.
