Job summary

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, seeks bold Principal Mechanical Engineers to join rapid, interdisciplinary teams in Alexandria, VA. You will design, prototype, and test mechanical systems for defense and intelligence applications, balancing form, function, and manufacturability.

You’ll contribute to cross-functional collaboration, rapid deployment, and hands-on problem solving on mission-critical hardware, with opportunities to shape the role based on strengths and interests.

Qualifications

• Level 5: 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide design, prototype fabrication, and verification testing of unique specialty products.
• Perform detailed system and sub-system analysis, simulation, and design work as required.
• Work with complex mechanical systems to determine design tradeoffs.
• Interface with project teams and external customers to support product development.
• Participate in assembly, system test planning, and system test procedure generation.
• Document processes and testing using structured formats; contribute to improving formats.
